The City of Maple Valley provides FREE Car Wash Kits to fundraising organizations.
What is a Car Wash Kit?
A Car Wash Kit is a set of items used to capture soapy water and prevent it from entering stormwater systems by rerouting the water to sanitary sewer systems or grassy areas.
What are site condition requirements?
- Have a catch basin with a correct size fitting in the kit basket, where soapy water will be collected
- Have electricity available within 100 feet to run the sump
- Have enough vegetated/pervious area or a site that is located near a sanitary sewer system to receive soapy water
Where and how to check out?
The Car Wash kit is easy to use and can be checked out on a first come, first served basis. City staff may need at least 3 business days prior to the car wash charity event for a site approval assessment. If the site is approved, you will be required to fill out an application. Photo ID, organization name, mailing address, and site address are also required. The car wash kit must be returned within 7 days of the checkout date. For more information, please visit us at Maple Valley City Hall, 22017 SE Wax Road, Suite 200, Maple Valley, or contact Ken Srilofung, SWM/NPDES Program Manager at (425) 413-8800 or email@example.com.
Fundraising Car Wash Alternative
The Puget Sound Car Wash Association and Brown Bear Car Wash have charity car wash programs that offer an effective fundraising option. They sell redeemable car wash tickets for qualifying charities. You can potentially raise money for your organization and help improve water quality, protect surface water, and reduce amount of storm water pollution entering into the Puget Sound.
