Drug/Alcohol Free Work Environment
The City is committed to providing a drug and alcohol-free workplace for all of its employees. The City may designate a position as safety-sensitive and therefore require pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Employment offers are contingent upon the applicant successfully passing drug and alcohol screenings when required. Successful candidates for positions that require a Commercial Driver's License will be subject to additional oversight regarding drug and alcohol policies, including random testing.

No Smoking
Employees are not allowed to use tobacco products on City premises, in City vehicles, nor while performing their job duties.

Background and Reference Checks
Final candidate(s) will be asked to submit at least three reference contacts. The City may conduct reference checks on candidate(s). Final candidates for certain positions will be required to authorize the City to conduct a criminal history background check, as required by law.

Driver's Licenses
Final candidates for positions that require driving a City vehicle may be required to submit an abstract of their driving record, and employment offers for these positions are contingent upon having an acceptable driving record.

Professional Licenses/Certifications
Final candidates for positions that require certain licenses/certifications, such as CDL, CPR/First Aid, etc., will be required to produce a copy of their licenses/certifications before starting employment.

False Statements
If the City should discover that an applicant knowingly withheld information requested on the application that would have a bearing on the City's employment decision, or falsified information on the application, the City will consider this grounds for elimination from further consideration or, if employed for termination at any time.

Notification to Applicants
The City will notify all applicants for regular positions regarding the status of their application when the selection process is complete.
