Retail marijuana is allowed in the State of Washington with the passage of Initiative 502 and the State Liquor Control Board is finalizing regulations regarding placement of a retail establishment. Current rules prohibit a retail establishment within 1,000 feet of schools, parks, daycares, community centers and arcades. Currently under Washington State rules the City of Maple Valley will be allowed one retail marijuana establishment within City limits.

The City’s Retail Marijuana Map [PDF] shows locations which fall within the 1,000 foot exclusionary zones. Under current regulations, retail marijuana may only be located within the CB (Community Business), SC (Service Commercial) and CC (Central Commerce) zones, and located outside the 1,000 foot exclusionary zones.

Regulations regarding medical cannabis and collective gardens are addressed under Ordinance O-12-504 [PDF]. Medical cannabis dispensaries and collective gardens are not permitted within the City of Maple Valley. For further information regarding retail marijuana, please refer to the Washington State Liquor Control Board website at http://lcb.wa.gov/marijuana/I-502.
