The City of Maple Valley’s annual asphalt overlay program is currently scheduled to get underway approximately the week of June 19th (start date will be posted) contingent upon weather conditions.  It has been determined that your street, or a street whereby you access your home, may be impacted by this work.  The asphalt overlay project includes asphalt grinding of pavement at the end and beginning of the paving project limits.  The city anticipates the work will take three consecutive days; one day for the grinding work and two days for the asphalt overlay.

During the grinding and overlay work, vehicle traffic will be directed by flaggers working for the contractor.  However, on-street parking will be prohibited prior to, and during, any grinding and paving work.  The contractor will post NO PARKING sandwich board signs and message signs out in your neighborhood 24 to 48 hours or more before the work is to begin to provide advance notice of no parking.  We ask that you please obey the no parking signs to avoid having vehicles impounded.  The contractors work hours will be between 7 AM to 5 PM weekdays; no weekend work will occur.

The grinding and paving work will be done by Icon Paving and will be monitored by King County Roads and the City of Maple Valley Construction Inspector, Tom Bowen.  Mr. Bowen can be reached by cell phone at 206-391-8160 should you have any questions.

The following locations have been determined for the pavement overlay program.  Locations are depicted by a bold black line on the map on the backside of this notice.

  • 224th Ave SE, beginning south of the Lake Wilderness Park parking lot access road southward on West Lake Wilderness DR SE to the end of 227th Pl SE.
  • SE 260th St (from 227th Pl SE eastward approximately 100 feet).

The city will publish any changes to the Contractor’s schedule on the city website at www.maplevalleywa.gov.  You may be interested in signing up on the city website for eNotification, located on the left blue bar on the website front page.  You will have a choice to subscribe to your various areas of interest; however, by selecting “Construction Updates” under the NEWS section, you will get automatic email notices of construction project updates.  You may change your subscription preferences or unsubscribe at any time.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and we hope the newly paved street will offset any inconvenience the project may cause you.
